Am I Eligible to Apply

Are you a Municipality or other political subdivision of the state of New Hampshire? Yes, you are eligible to apply

Are you a Publicly-supported nonprofit corporation exempt from federal income taxation under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code? Yes, you are eligible to apply

If you represent other interested parties, you may still partner or work with an eligible organization or government entity but may not apply directly to the program.

What Types of Projects Can I Apply For

Eligible applicants may apply for grant funds for the protection of the following natural resources (as listed in statute):

  1. ecologically significant lands;
  2. existing and potential public water supply lands;
  3. farmland;
  4. forestland;
  5. habitat for rare species or important wildlife;
  6. lands for recreation;
  7. riverine, lake, estuarine, and ocean shorelands;
  8. scenic areas and viewsheds; and wetlands and associated uplands.
What Aspect of the Project could LCHIP Fund?
  1. Acquisition of real property in fee simple;
  2. Acquisition of easement interests in real property;
  3. Surveys, appraisals, title work, and other legal or ancillary work necessary to carry out acquisitions that can demonstrate linkage to the permanent protection of eligible resources;
  4. Resource inventories and planning that can demonstrate linkage to the permanent protection of eligible resources;
  5. Other professional services that can demonstrate linkage to the permanent protection of eligible resources and limited to:
    (a) in-house or contracted services for the purposes of project application development to LCHIP;
    (b) feasibility studies;
    (c) environmental reviews;
    (d) archaeological reviews;
    (e) engineering studies;
    (f) condition assessments;
    (g) baseline documentation
